There is no doubt that Invisalign is one of the greatest inventions in the world of dentistry. The technology was devised around 15 years ago, and since then has become a leading trend and a great demand for patients around the world.
Traditional braces are still around and still preferred by many orthodontists around the world, but they sure have their drawbacks. They look bad, are very uncomfortable, and take a great deal of time. Invisalign came about to solve practically every problem with braces. There is however one issue with Invisalign, and that is its cost. So exactly how much does Invisalign cost? You would be surprised of the answer.
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign is a system of clear, transparent molds called aligners. You might think “how does a transparent mold move the teeth?”, and that is the beauty of Invisalign. No more brackets, wires or round colorful elastics. The aligners apply pressure in a certain manner, very precise and incredibly accurate, to slowly move the teeth to the desired location. But don’t be fooled by the word “slowly” as Invisalign is much faster than normal braces.
Each person needs around 15 to 20 sets of aligners, each is worn for about 2 weeks. This makes the overall treatment time a little under a year. Of course the treatment time differs according to the complexity of the case, but the general rule is that it takes less than a year to complete most cases.

How much does Invisalign cost?
Many factors go into determining the cost of Invisalign. How long will the treatment time be, how difficult is the case, the location and experience of the treating orthodontist are all factors to be considered. On average, Invisalign cases range from $2500 to $7000. It is a hefty amount of money – we understand – but consider how much of a return on your investment you would be getting back.
Is it worth it?
The only one who can answer that question is you. However, we can help make the choice easy. There are many things you should consider before making that choice, including:
-
What Invisalign offers:
Invisalign carries a lot of advantages over traditional braces. It looks far better (practically invisible) which was the main problem of braces, and the main reason most people especially adults don’t prefer them. In addition, it is much more comfortable to wear an aligner made of highly polished plastic rather than a metallic bracket, which can cut and scrape against your soft tissues. Finally, you can remove the aligners at will. This makes cleaning your teeth through brushing and flossing extremely easy, and minimizes the chances of decay and gum disease which is very common with braces.
-
Treatment time:
Most braces cases take about 1 to 2 years to complete. Since Invisalign is computer made, it is far more accurate and significantly faster. Most cases are completed in less than a year.
-
Cost:
Invisalign is not cheap, but do you know how much braces cost? Traditional braces start at $2000 and could go up to $6000 for more complex cases. With Invisalign offering much more in terms of appearance, comfort and speed, isn’t a $1000 difference worth it?
